Pet Lost and Found Listing
Lauralea Hernandez is an Animal Control/Evidence Tech. with the Elbert County Sheriff's Dept., 303-621-2027. If you have a problem with loose animals or if you have lost a pet, give her a call.

When pets are found by the Animal Control and they cannot locate the owner, they are taken to Hallcrest Kennel, 2046 C.R. 158, 303-646-4626, where they are kept for 10 days. If the owner is not found, the animal is taken to a Denver shelter where it is kept until a home is found. By the 10th day animals placed in Hallcrest Kennel are available for adoption directly from Hallcrest.

We have two dogs, a BASSET and a RETRIEVER, at Hall Crest kennel. We picked them up on Thursday July 19th on Sun Country Drive. We would like to get them back to their owner. -- Floyd Crossman Code Compliance Elbert County 303-621-3182 Lauralea Hernandez Animal Control Elbert County 303-947-7033.

Reminder from Hallcrest Kennel: If your pet gets out of their fenced in area, be sure to survey the fence line and find out how they got loose. If you think someone opened their gate, place a lock on the gate. Perhaps they are able to jump the fence or dig underneath it. Be sure to block their "escape route" so that they can't get loose again and be injured or killed, or get in a fight and injure or kill someone else's pet or even a child. And very importantly, be sure your pet has a tag that has at least your telephone number on it so if it survives its adventure the finder can call you and return the pet to you.

NOTE FROM WEBMASTER: There are many, many breed rescue and general animal rescue clubs in the Greater Denver Area. E-mail me at webmaster@jeanniemay.com or give me a call at 303-646-5303 (my name is Jean) if you'd like me to begin adding links to these organizations on this page. That way, if a person has a pet they can't keep or take care of anymore, they can go to the list for a quick solution to their problem, while at the same time providing a good chance for a good home for the pet.
